Our New Intensive Training System and Performing Companies
What does intense mean? Must people see the word and have a feeling about it with out a strong sense of it’s meaning. Well for us intense doesn’t necessariry me difficult. One definition of intense
(of an action) Highly concentrated
tells you all you need to know about what we’ve been doing. I believe that complicated choreography doesn’t automatically make you a better dancer, but rather mastering the basics so you, as a dancer, can bring the best ‘to’ the choreography is what we want. And thats exactly what we’ve been focusing on.
Our intensive programme is doing well and I have been happy with the priliminary results and first performance at Nascot Wood School and I am looking forward to the continued development of the programme.
In general, during our mid-week classes, we will focus on training and development of the performance teams: a team for beginners (roughly 6-12 years old) and a team for intermediate students roughly 12 and older. We will make an announcement for adult teams as soon as we are able.
Please note that the ages are strictly rough ideas based on our current student population. They are not to be considered fixed and will almost certainly change over time.
While the purpose of additional training should always be development of skill and knowledge about dance, these teams will eventually become our part of our primary performing groups and will be required to adhere to a much more intensive and varied dance schedule. We are planning a number of very cool events including amazing training camps to Switzerland and Russia, dance competitions, several performance opportunities, masterclasses and workshops. Anyone willing to adhere to our intensive training and performance schedule and who successfully demonstrates readiness at our audition/evaluation day can join our performing teams. Our Saturday programme will remain largely unchanged for anyone wanting to enjoy dance on a more casual basis.
